Art in Hallands resident scholarship holder; Tove Möller!

3 October, 2023

Tove Möller

May we present this year’s scholarship holder from Konst i Halland who has now completed her residency period with us; Tove Möller! ⭐️

Tove was born and raised in Laholm, Halland, Sweden. Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Gerlesborg School of Art.

Tove now lives in Stockholm and works as an artist and library educator.

We asked about Tove’s experience here at Ricklundgården and she said that being here is a big contrast, unlike everyday life at home. “- Here I have seen and understood this place from several perspectives. I have been able to “listen in” properly and I have felt, and feel very welcome here, by the people and by nature!”.

Tove records sound and works with physical materials that are connected to different places and phenomena, and then builds sound installations and sculptures.

In the pictures we see Tove herself, a pattern in a vessel, Tove together with Tina, Maud and Conny and Tove & Tina at EMMAS in the last picture.

~ An extra big thank you to Maud and Conny for the welcoming visit and opportunity to talk and not least a big THANK YOU to Hans Einarsson for generously telling us about the mine in Stekenjokk!

We already miss Tove and hope to see you again before too long! 🧡

Many thanks to MC Coble & Simon Gripenberg for your personal, honest, interesting and generous artist presentations yesterday!

We heard about exclusion, threats of violence, not feeling at home in your body, the path to new life, the power of nature as a way to feel good and see life from a different perspective. We heard about climate change, actively protesting and standing up for your opinion, changing career choices later in life and a little about what it is like to belong to the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland called Finland Swedes.

The day ended with a guided tour of the museum by visiting visitors from Västernorrland!
Also with us on the tour were two students from @academyoffinearts_umea

EMMAS’ art education workshop has become a natural meeting place and complements the residency activities at Ricklundgården incredibly well. EMMAS makes it possible for us to arrange outreach activities and workshops even if all studios are occupied. It is not always desirable for an artist living with us to invite people to their studio while work is in progress, nor is our museum always suitable for various public events. It is nice not to have to choose, we can both have residency accommodation in all studios, guided tours in the museum and activities at EMMAS that require a different accessibility and freedom of choice in how the activities are carried out / implemented or need to be open!

So great that so many came to take part in @ivartorneus’ art lecture “The Mountain World in Art” last Saturday at Folkets Hus in Vilhelmina.
